The Baylor Bears jumped out to an early lead over the Gonzaga Bulldogs last night and never looked back on the way to an 86-70 win. The Bears never trailed once en route to handing the Bulldogs their first loss of the season. Jared Butler, who dropped 22 points in the win, walked away with the Most Outstanding Player honors for Baylor. AMAZING win over Gonzaga, extremely proud to be a Baylor Bear. I'm extremely happy that we were able to bring home the title but I'm a little sad about the story this year could have been. Hear me out: Baylor and Gonzaga were head and shoulders above the rest of the competition the entire year leading up to February. Had it not been for a 3 week COVID pause I truly believe that it would have been likely that we would have seen 2 undefeated teams in the final. After the pause the Bears were obviously and understandably rusty. They literally did not play a game or have a single practice for 3 WEEKS. Had they not halted all team activities I don't think they would have lost a game. Imagine having the 2 undisputed, undefeated and unchallenged best teams in the country playing for all the marbles. 2 undefeated teams going into the final, only 1 team leaving undefeated and being the first to do so since 1975!!! You couldnt write a better story if you tried. It was an amazing game and once again I'm extremely happy for my Bears but I'm sad about what could have been. Sic'em Bears!

I love how the haters only pay attention to Gonzaga when they lose. Zags destroy Norfolk St, Oklahoma, Creighton and USC, they don't pay any attention. Congratulations to Baylor and Gonzaga but Gonzaga was overrated and from a weak conference. Down year for the ACC and teams like Kentucky gave Gonzaga a punchers chance. A team with 4 penetrating point guards who can hit a 3 on the move will destroy a set shot 3 team with liabitities on defense. The only NBA prospect on Gonzaga is Suggs maybe, Kispert reminds me of a one dimensional Kyle Korver and a defensive liability. Timme is just a very good college player and a defensive liability any European big would be an upgrade.

After the first two possessions when Baylor was up 4-0 I thought Mark few should have called a time out. Maybe it wouldn't have made a difference but you could tell very quickly that Baylor had come out with the energy. I think he should have been quicker as a coach to call the time out and tell the team "hey let's reset."

@Jonathan Amanuel yeah I just feel like he was anticipating that they were going to start making baskets and they didn't and I don't think he called the time out until it was like 9 to nothing or something like that. And by that time you could feel the Baylor was really rolling. Like I said it may not have been the difference but just from a fan perspective it just felt like Gonzaga came out surprised by how Baylor was playing. I just wonder if he had called a few timeouts within the first couple of minutes to try to calm down the Baylor energy it's possible that the Gonzaga players would have calmed a little bit more and played better earlier

Exactly. Baylor is a an elite team that thrives off of momentum. One or two baskets and their locked in on both ends. If Few called timeout earlier, he could’ve gotten his offense set to establish confidence within the Zags players. They probably could’ve made that game interesting instead of having it over within the first 6 minutes

Actually, Baylor did NOT have a "nice home game against Iowa State". Baylor trailed at halftime and almost lost that game; didn't cover. Against a 2 win Iowa State team...

Baylor beat em. But Few is a master at making adjustments. Best out of 5 the Zags win more then 1. Baylor peaked when they ran over Houston. The Zags played at a high level throughout the season. They ran into a team peaking and like what happened with Wichita 5 years or so ago the Zags were beaten. Hats off to Baylor.

Gonzaga was overrated all those dudes were weak and unathletic...none of them outside of Suggs will play pro basketball. It literally looked like when the team from the suburbs come to the inner city to play the AAU squad and got crushed....America wanted Gonzaga....and we all know what that means....this was UNLV/ Duke 1990 all over again.

The only reason people questioned Baylor is they lost games they shouldn't have lost. Baylor was the favorites to win it all until they started losing. But of course everyone wants the undefeated team to win it all. Just like when Kentucky lost to Wisconsin in 2015
